Productive Weekend

(I don’t have time to proof read this. I need to get to bed. Sorry for any errors)

Well we have had a very productive weekend.

Matt worked very hard for 3 days and we finally have a fenced back yard. I mean, FULLY fenced. It looks awesome. I’m lucky to have such a good hard working husband! I hope he never
changes.

On top of fencing the back yard, I repainted our bedroom. I LOVE IT!!! We also put up new wood blinds which has totally changed the look of the room. Next weekend, Matt plans to install the crown molding we got to go around the top. He was a little to tired after putting up the fence, so he decided to take a day to rest.

Also, on the way home from grocery shopping on Saturday, I stopped by a garage sale. I scored on a new living room rug, a brown ottoman which we are now using as a coffee table and 2 big yellow pillows. I think this is the most exciting find of the weekend!!
Then Saturday night, we had our friends over. The Ake’s and Pam and Aubrey. Emerson, Jaime and Ake’s son, is getting so big! (Jaime if you’re reading this, I hope your getting lots of sleep!!)

That’s our good news…

We do have some bad though.

On Saturday, I took our dog Niquie to the vet to have her skin looked at. Since about the end of summer her skin has been getting red and irritated. Within the last month her skin has been getting sores on them which split open and oze… very gross and probably painful for her. Well, once we got to the vet, they did some testing and determined it was Mange. The same thing she had before we rescued her. When we rescued her, she had been on treatment about a year and had vet bills up in the thousands…When the vet told us it was mange, all I saw were $$$$ signs.

After paying the vet bill of $205.00 and leaving with 3 medications and instructions to return in 3 weeks to have her checked again, I came home to tell Matt the bad news.
Since the vet wanted us to return in 3 weeks to have the testing done again, this also meant that in 3 weeks we would have to pay another vet bill of $205.00. They do not know how long it will take to get rid of the mange, since it’s in her paws; it’s the worst kind and is the hardest to get rid of.

I think we have decided to take her to the vet one more time, but if they haven’t seen a change yet in her skin and it looks like she will need a lot more treatments, then we will probably have to give her back to the rescue that we got her from.
She is such a good dog and I don’t want to give her back… but I also don’t want to go broke trying to get control of her mange. I think I’m more upset with myself that I didn’t take her in when we noticed it at the end of summer. If we did, maybe we could have caught it sooner.

So pray that Niquie’s mange will clear up and that we wont have to give her back…

On another note… not sure if it’s good or bad…

My mom called me tonight. My cousin lives next door to a pug abuser!! They have this pug… they leave him outdoor all the time. He doesn’t have shelter or even blankets to keep him warm. He has been stuck outside during our huge wind and rain storms and on nights that it gets below freezing. They never play with him or even bathe him. I guess the lady got the dog for her husband who never wanted him so they just keep him outside. There entire back yard is bark and they do not even have a awning for him to hide under when it rains. During the summer, this dog would surly die. If you know anything about pugs, you would know that 1. They are very weather sensitive. 2. They need lots of attention.

Soooo…. Needless to say, the pug is on its way to my house right now. We are going to bathe him and feed him and get him all fattened up and were going to find him a really good home. Someone who will love him like he should be loved.

Since I wrote that last paragraph, the pug had been brought over… as fast as he came, he was gone. I called my friend Pam and told her about the pug coming over. Before I knew it, she was at my door and insisting that she was not leaving without this dog.

I normally would have said NO WAY! Cause next to Baxter, he was the 2nd cutest pug ever! But, since him and Baxter never stopped humping each other in the 2 hours they were together, I figured it would be best if the new pug went home with Pam. Besides, since Pam lost her beloved Chubby boy (her pug) she has been trying to find a new one to love. I think she finally found one.

He is definitely going to a good home. Pam being a stay at home mom, she will be with him all day.

They also chose a cute name. I am proud to introduce you to the one and only,

Roger
