New Pond

Today, we accomplished a lot and had a little help along the way.

Matt put in a new flower garden around our bougainvillea plants. I laid the weed prevention tarp and planted the flowers and then added the bark. It looks so good!

While I was doing that, Matt was installing a POND!!!! About a year ago, we got an old water can with a spout on it. I always thought it would be cute to make it into a fountain.

Today while cleaning out the flower bed, Matt decided he wanted to put one in… within an hour, he was back from Lowes and was getting busy…

Aubrey and Pam came over for the day. Aubrey hung out with me the whole time and we gardened.

She also watered all the plants. It's nice how something as simple as a water hose can entertain a 22 month old for 4 hours.

Pam, who brought over a chair to paint, also brought over Max. This is what went on the ENTIRE time.

Matt worked so hard on the pond. I think it is my new favorite in my back yard, next to some of the new things I got from Grammy's house… Like these geraniums (I got the 2 tier hanging basket at Wal-mart) that are now hung off our tool shed on a super cute hook, this bird bath and the new bench, which I have ALWAYS wanted one of.

Along with the outdoor items I got from Grammy's, I also got this corner unit that she has had forever! When I brought it home and cleaned the cob webs off, I realized it fit PERFECT in the corner of my living room. The glass top is very 70's and I have already removed them. I really want Matt to do some clear stained glass work to replace the old 70's stuff… I am still debating whether to keep it brown because it matches the floor, or paint it black and match the rest of the house… hmm I don't know what to do. I am going to leave it up to Matt. It isn't that old of an antique and it made rather cheaply, so I don't mind painting it if I had to. I will post photos of it soon once I have added some knick-knacks to it.

Back to today's work… Aubrey helped Matt when he needed some water. After this… she squirted him. Pam and I thought it was funny… Matt, not so much.

Here is the almost finished project. I will post some photos tomorrow of what it looks like with flowers and bark. It is soo pretty!

Now I am off to bed because i just finished dying Easter eggs and need make sure that Matt doesn't see the Easter basket I made him tonight full of all of his favorite things, like Cheeze-its, Robins Egg Candy and Squeeze-it's!

Happy Easter!
