Did someone say Sale?!

So this past weekend started out nice and exciting. After I left work on Friday, my mother told me about a sale Mervyns was having. It was the “biggest sale of the year” which didn’t mean anything to me since they always have the “biggest sale of the year” but this one was different. Everything in the store was 20% off. EVERYTHING. And if it was already on sale, then you taken an extra 20% off the sale or clearance price.

Pants that were normally 30$ but on sale 50% off… well take another 20% off that!
And everything in the store was at least 50% off. Since it was a sale, I broke the law by speeding and couldn’t get there fast enough!
When I walked in, I decided to call Matt who has just got home from work and was getting ready for bed since he has to wake up really early for work the next day. All I had to say was “THERES A SALE ON NICE WORK CLOTHES” and he was there within 15 mins.


We shopped and shopped… and shopped.
We got to the register.
The clerk asked “would you like to save an additional 15% by opening a Mervyns card”
Us: “No Thanks”
Her: “you can get the Mervyns card, charge the order and then pay it right off”
Us: “Umm…”
Her: “ you would save 146$ on your purchase”
Us: “Where’s the pen?”


So we saved a BUNCH of money.
Then she said that we could use the extra 15% off for the remainder of the night.
This 15% plus the store wife 20% off meant that we saved 35% on our purchases.
THEN, since most of our items were already 50% off + the 35% = 85% off original prices!!


After 3 hours of shopping and 2 different trips to the register, we walked out with bag fulls!

Matt is definitely done with work clothes. Me… well I only found 3 shirts and 2 pairs of shoes.
I wasn’t as lucky as Matt who got:
1 pair of black dress shoes, 1 pair of running shoes, 7 polo dress shirts and 5 pairs of pants.

And since we spent so much money, they gave us six 10$ off coupons to be used for the following week.
Super Sweet!!
Now we just need to find jackets that will keep up warm when we live in Ohio…

Which, by the way, we still don’t have a start date yet. So… I still don’t know when we are moving.
