Baby Room- 98% done!

The baby room is now 98% done. All that is left is art for the wall above the dresser then the little guy can come anytime!! Were ready for you!

Tonight my Mom and I went to Joann's, where they were having a huge fabric sale... everything was at least 50% off. The lines for check out were around the building and the lines for fabric were the longest I have ever seen. We grabbed a number before even shopping for fabric. We got number 00 and they were only on number 70. It worked out perfect. By the time we picked out all the fabric we were being called to the desk.

Luckily, I already had the panel curtains that we used. I didn't even realize I had them and almost bought the same fabric to make the same ones. I am really glad we decided to use what I had since it saved a lot of money.

The panels I had are a thick muslin. All we did was added 12" of chocolate brown fabric to the bottom to make them long enough to go from the rod to the floor. The rod is hung almost to the ceiling to make the room appear bigger. The chocolate brown fabric is great. It resembles the crib bumper, which is in a soft minky fabric.

The brown fabric we added to the curtains has the same dots, just not soft. It's more durable. We got it in the designer fabric section for 50% off.We made a crib skirt, completed 4 panels and will be making 2 more for the closet. A grand total of $50. That's including the panels I had. I got them at a garage sale last year for about $1 for all .

They look really great and I think it's what the tiny room needed...very tall curtains! It's bring your eye up and makes the room bigger.

The curtains turned out PERFECT. Like... store bought perfect. The crib skirt, well, we got tired. I think because I curtains turned out so well that is why we didn't have better luck with the crib skirt.I think if we weren't so tired and not in a rush (I didn't want to extend the project until next weekend) it could have been done correctly.

Mom and I were on 2 different wave lengths on how to do it and were both confused by each others vision. Finally we just started cutting and sewing. At least it looks good from what the eyes can see. The funkiness is hidden under the mattress, which is fine since there will always be a mattress on it. Either way, it's DONE!

Mom was the pinner and I was the sewer. It went so smoothly and was such an easy job
