We did have to fix a LOT of stuff before moving back in. Every faucet in the house was broke. The bathroom sink knobs were busted. The sink is from the 1920's so finding parts was pretty hard.
The bathtub spout didn't spout water. That was replaced.
Our tenants did a hair job in the bath tub which stained the porcelain pretty bad. We had to have the tub acid cleaned and then re-porcelain. It is very pretty now and looks like a brand new tub. It feel SO clean!
The kitchen sink cold water was broken. Once that was fixed with a new washer, we discovered there was a leak... a leak so bad that is damaged cabinets, the flooring and was leaking into the basement walls... this will lead to another post about my new kitchen I am getting.
Our 1940's oven is broke. It turns on, but only at the highest temp which happens to be 550 degrees. The valve that controls the temp of the oven is broke. Since it is such an old stove, finding parts and someone who knows how to fix it has become an issue.
Our entire property was infested with fleas. You couldn't even walk outside without them jumping and biting you. It has since been sprayed twice and I have a feeling they are still out there. Another good thing of having the property sprayed was that it killed a lot of the black widows. I hate those!
We have to replace the carpet in our office from what appears to be hair dye being spilled on it.
We had to replace blinds, a bathroom mirror and other various small items.
Overall, everything in the house has been painted, fixed or replaced.
I am pretty sad that a lot of my plants died, but overall it is ok.
I feel bad for Matt who came home to all these problems, on top of starting a new job. The stress can be a lot at times. We are taking one day at a time and knowing the baby will be here in 608 weeks!
It feels good to be home though! I have eaten at all my favorite places... many more than once.
The weather is perfect fall weather.
