What's in a home?

We have put offers in on 3 homes and none of them have worked out. Even though it is a buyers market, there is a lot of competition out there for the good homes. It is hard finding a home. I say  “home” because that is what we want. Yes, there are many nice houses out there and most of them are just that, houses. We have seen lots of really nice ones. Very nice, just not for us. You know how you can walk into a place and you just know that this place could be your home? By home, I mean the place you want to bring your babies home from the hopsital to, the place you have family BBQ’s and many holidays, the place you teach your kids how to ride their first bike and a place you can spend the rest of your life living in. (or until you grow out of it and need a bigger one!) That is what we are looking for. A home., not a house.

Yes, any house can become a home after time when you start to build your memories, but it is still just that. A house. I guess it goes off of the feeling you get when you are in the house…when something just says, “This is the one!”

We have seen 2 of those and out of those 2 only 1 that I can actually say could be my home. Now, if only they weren’t so over priced for this market, it could be my home!! Maybe one day it will be my home, that is, if they come down on their price.

We are fine in our tiny 900 sqft home. We have been doing it for almost 4 years (minus the year in Ohio) and we said when we started looking for homes that we would be in no rush and take our time… Now I see what is out there and I am anxious to move. I look every day at new homes to come onto the market. I find myself no longer content with living in my little shoe box. But, we will not settle and the way it is looking, it may be a while before we will get one. That is ok though. I will sit back and be thankful that I even have a roof over my head! Even if it is a tiny one that is busting at the seems!
