Two years ago today, Matt and I put an offer in on our first home.
When we first saw this house we both just knew it was ours! I guess you could say it was love at first sight.
Since I was a little kid, I always said my dream home would be a cute old house with a sidewalk that had grass growing on each side of it… this was my dream home. My first dream home. We put an offer and a after a few days of countering, we got word that they accepted. We were due to move in 30 days later.
In the days leading up to the move, we would drive by… not every day, but every other day. Would we drive down the street and say, “ in 3 weeks we will be going home”….”In 2 weeks this will be our new home!” Then finally the day came and we were able to move in.
We moved into the house just 2 months after we got married. This is the home that Matt and I started our life in and it will always be my home! Having to leave it 3 weeks ago was so hard. As we said goodbye that early rainy morning, Matt locked the first door and I got to lock the last.
As hard as moving away from my family and friends was, I was so upset to be leaving my little dream home. Over the years we had put so much work into her and so much love.
Even though we were fortunate enough to find some really great renters, I am happy to know that she is still mine. Matt said I can’t keep her forever… but why not??! I keep everything else that I have had from my childhood… Polly pockets, pogs, trolls, barbies, key chains, pencils, JTT posters… Why not keep my little dream home that I was dreaming about when I was a child?? We could keep it as a play house for our children…
