The Shabby House

My Mothers house.

My Mom's house is small. About 1000-1100 sqft. They have 5 people, 3 dogs and 1 cat living all under this small roof. They do have a converted garage that is a extra living space, which is where the boys hang out and an extra outdoor room which is used as a 4th bedroom (both not included in the squarefootage). It's hard for her to keep the house cute and simple and clean when 3 of the 5 are teenagers and all of the guys work on there VW's all the time and have greasy hands and dirty clothes.

She tries though.

Her dream is to one day open up her own shabby chic shop where she can sell her shabby chic stuff! I hope one day her dreams will come true.

This is fabric we bought while I was in town. This is going to be a couch slip cover for her ugly couch in the living room. The strip fabric is going to be the seat covers, the mini roses will be the pillows and the cream will be everything else. It is going to be darling when it is finished.

This is the dining area in the kitchen. That is the kitchen table they got when they were married. It didnt always look like that. It had a dark stain on it until a few years ago when Mom sanded it down and shabby chic'd it. Isn't it cute? This is going to be mine someday since they just got a new table... someday when they have room for the new large table.

The hutch in the back is from my grandmothers house. When she passed away my Mom got it. It is one of her favorite pieces and dates back to the late 1880's.

Here is the bathroom. The only bathroom.
My Dad built the old framed box on the wall years ago. It goes perfect above the grouted table which also used to be dark brown. This table has been around as long as the kitchen table.

When they first bought the house, the area behind this white paneled wall was exposed to the living room. It used to be a bedroom. My parents used it as a dining room which worked out really well. Then when they decided to take Koko, they converted there dining area back into a bedroom. Instead of adding a wall back up, they added which paneled doors. They are hoping one or both of my brothers will move out so they can move Koko to the back bedroom and open this room back up for a dining area.

The house isnt completly done yet... Some of the stuff isnt really shabby enough but will have to stay until they move to a bigger house.
