A "Ho Ho" sign.
Welcome to Christmas in my house!
Our first project it a Ho Ho sign. I found this in the newest Pottery Barn magazine. I get these magazines so I can copy items they are selling for less than half the cost. I guess that is me being cheap… Unfortunately, I couldn’t find the photo online of Pottery Barns so I can’t compare mine to there’s… but Pottery Barn isn’t the first person to have the Ho Ho sign…
This project is VERY easy. I would give it a 1 paint brush out of 5.
Items you will need:
· 1 paint brush
· Red paint
· Brown Paint
· Wood letters: 2- H’s and 2-O’s to spell out Ho Ho. These can be found at Dollar Store,
Michael’s, Wal-mart or any other craft store for approz $2 each. You can buy them in different sizes too, to change things up. My “H” was a big H and the rest was in a smaller case.
Lay out your letters on paper and on a flat surface and paint them red. They may need a few coats.
You can continue to paint them until the entire surface is solid red. I liked mine a little distressed looking so I only put a few coats on mine.
After the red dried, I dipped my paint brush in brown paint and ran the paint brush along the corners of the letters. This gives it more of an old look. If you don’t like that look than you don’t need any brown paint! I could have ran some sand paper along the edge but that was too much work…
When the paint is dry, you can add some ribbon to it.
You can even add some ribbon to the back of the letters and hang them on the wall. I set mine on top of a cabinet. Who knows, as often as I change my mind, they could be hanging on a wall in a few days… and here is what it looks like in my house. I added a Christmas bulb on some ribbon to it.
